Private Pay Meals

HVES Private Pay Meals Information

Individuals who do not qualify for the Federal Home Delivered Meals Program or State Home Care Services may receive home delivered meals Monday – Friday by paying privately. Our Private Pay Meals Program provides nutritionally balanced meals at low cost, delivered right to your door. Drivers must have verbal and visual contact with the consumers (a well-being check) while delivering the meal, as an added safety mechanism. The well-being check may be waived through the Private Pay meals Program, as indicated on the application.

Meal cost/town coverage: subject to change at any time    

  • $9.50 per meal – Hot meal daily drop off   
    Lunch, Daily Delivery meals, Monday-Friday  
    – Easthampton, Goshen, Granville, Hadley, Hatfield, Huntington, Northampton, Pelham, Southampton, Southwick, Tolland, Westfield, Westhampton, Williamsburg  
    – Amherst (hot meals daily except Wednesday; frozen and hot meal delivered Tuesday)  
  • $7.90 per meal- Frozen meal weekly drop off  
    Lunch, Supper, & Weekend meals, Weekly Delivery   
    – Available in all towns in our service area: Amherst, Blandford, Chester, Chesterfield, Cummington, Easthampton, Goshen, Granville, Hadley, Hatfield, Huntington, Middlefield, Montgomery, Northampton, Pelham, Plainfield, Russell, Southampton, Southwick, Tolland, Westfield, Westhampton, Williamsburg, Worthington  

Meals are generally delivered between 11am-12:30pm.  

**Please note that in most cases it may not be safe to serve the program’s regular meals to a person with a life-threatening food allergy due to the risk of unknown ingredients and cross-contamination. Highland Valley Elder Services may not fulfill meal requests based on reported food allergies. 

Cancellation policy: Consumers are required to cancel meals at least 48 hours in advance of a scheduled delivery by calling the dining site associated with their town. Consumers will be responsible for payment of meals that are not cancelled according to these guidelines. 

Snow Day Meals: Consumers who receive meals throughout the winter months should expect to receive meals in advance, in anticipation of weather-related closing. They will be instructed to save these meals to be used in the event of a weather-related closing.  

IMPLEMENTATION: Prior to starting private pay meals, consumers must pre-pay for six weeks of the selected meal plan.   After the initial payment, consumers will be billed on a monthly basis for the upcoming month. Any adjustments for meals cancelled within the guidelines of meal policy will be reflected on subsequent invoices. If any adjustment is needed to the amount of the first invoice, the subsequent invoice will be adjusted based on the meals’ start date.  

REFUNDS: if payment is made by credit/debit card, a refund will be made to the credit/debit card; if paid by check, a refund will be issued by check.  If your meals are suspended for over thirty (30) days, a refund check will be issued. 

NON-PAYMENTS: meals will cease immediately and will remain suspended until the balance is paid.

Once payment has been cleared, you should receive meals within three business days. You will receive a call to confirm your meals’ start date.
