New Health and Human Services Secretary

Governor Maura Healy has appointed Dr. Kiame Mahaniah as the Health and Human Services Secretary.

  Dr. Mahaniah’s appointment is effective Monday, July 14th. Kate Walsh is stepping down as Secretary after 4 decades as a health care leader.

The Executive Office of Health and Human Service (EOHHS) is one of the strongest health and human services operations in the United States. Dr. Mahaniah will be in charge of more than 23 thousand staff across 11 agencies, which include the state’s Executive Office of Aging & Independence (AGE). AGE oversees a majority of the programs that are provided by Highland Valley Elder Services to older adults in 24 communities in Hampshire and Hampden Counties.
