The public health initiative is aimed at bringing attention to this serious problem facing our country. ASPEN (American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition) wants to raise awareness about prevention, early detection and treatment. In Massachusetts, nearly two million adults are food insecure, many being older adults 60 plus, that’s according to the Greater Boston Food Bank’s 2023 statewide study. The study also found Western Massachusetts and Boston have some of the highest food insecurity rates in the state.
