Highland Valley Elder Services’ Executive Director Allan Ouimet and Associate Director of Programs and Services Valerie D’Aquisto travelled to the State House in Boston on May 6th to attend Older Adult Lobby Day. The annual rally provides the opportunity for voices to be heard and to let lawmakers know that older adults and people with disabilities are not an afterthought in Massachusetts policy decisions. Home and community-based services like Highland Valley provides to older adults in 24 communities in Hampden and Hampshire Counties, allow elders to stay in their homes independently and maintain their dignity. Some of the featured speakers today included Senator Pat Jehlen and Representative Tom Stanley.
