Part time (2 days a week) maintenance technician.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Maintenance

1. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing or vacuuming.
2. Gather and empty trash.
3. Service, clean and stock restrooms.
4. Clean entry windows, interior glass doors and restroom mirrors.
5. Dust blinds, light fixtures, furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
6. Mix water and detergents in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to product specifications.
7. Remove leaves and snow at front and rear entrances, spreading ice melt and/or sand as needed.
8. Perform light maintenance and repairs requiring proper use of hand tools and painting techniques.
9. Complete off-site errands such as agency vehicle maintenance, recycling, landfill and supply purchases.
10. Keep custodian supply closets in an orderly manner
11. Requisition supplies and equipment needed for restocking, cleaning and maintenance.

Other related responsibilities:

1. Occasional need to manage subcontracts and other outside parties, i.e. alarm company, Northampton Fire Department, telecommunications vendor, electricians, plumbers, heating & cooling contractors, document destruction, and other parties related to the building upkeep.
2. Maintain master key inventory.
3. Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs.
4. Maintain Material Data Safety Sheets
5. Maintain and stock vending machine, managing stock to avoid spoilage and requisition items as needed

Agency Vehicle

1. Schedule and manage required maintenance for agency vehicles with approved service providers.

Qualifications:

Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.  Experience and knowledge with proper usage of hand tools in making minor repairs.  Ability to read and follow directions for safe mixing of cleaning chemicals.  Experience in light painting, including proper surface preparation.  Ability to write and fill out required forms.  Valid driver’s license and vehicle.

Highland Valley Elder Services, Inc. is currently hiring for a Care Advisor to increase living options for elders by developing, implementing and monitoring a service plan, using a comprehensive assessment procedure, which will best assist an elder to maintain the living arrangement of his/her choice. Remote work up to 75% (including home visits) available after six months, based on performance.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Link and coordinate resources with elders.
2. Make comprehensive assessments through field interview and observation. Conduct monitoring visits at regular intervals and as needed.
3. From this assessment, develop and implement a service plan, make referrals to appropriate agencies and follow up on these referrals.
4. Act as an advocate to/with the elder when necessary.
5. Maintain the case file by completing all mandated paperwork in a timely fashion according to required documentation standards.
6. Provide Information and Referral services.
7. Participate in Highland Valley's development of comprehensive community programming efforts.
8. Participate in training and development activities to increase knowledge/skills for continuous strong performance in this position.
9. Participate in required quality performance initiatives within program area.
10. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor to meet agency needs.

Associate’s degree required, social work or related field preferred.  Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Prior experience with assessments or patient intake preferred. Highland Valley Elder Services is searching for a part time Benefits Support Specialist/certified Application Counselor to assist consumers apply for health insurance benefits, enroll in health plans, maintain insurance benefits, and apply for other State and Federal benefits including Fuel Assistance and SNAP. Working 15 hours per week Monday through Friday during the hours of 9am-5pm. Reliable vehicle and ability to drive is required.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Provide assistance to older people and individuals with disabilities to help them understand the programs and services that may be changing or ending, as well as assisting them complete to forms, applications, or other necessary documents.
2. Become trained and certified by Mass Health and the Health Connector and completed the CAC exam to support Consumers in applying, maintaining, and renewing health insurance coverage. Act as a resource for Consumers in Highland Valley’s Service Area on benefit eligibility information and application assistance.
3. Offer both virtual and in-person support, as requested by the Consumer.
4. Become a Certified Application Counselor (CAC) through the self-paced, virtual training and pass the CAC exam to receive CAC certification within four weeks of hire.
5. Complete any supplemental training offered by MassHealth on application assistance and the redetermination process, including the training on the Application for Health Coverage for Senior and People Needing Long-Term-Care Services (SACA) through the MassHealth Learning Management System.
6. Participate in the quarterly MassHealth Lead Certification Application Counselors Technical Assistance Meeting and join the Massachusetts Health Care Training Forum (MTF) to stay up to date on public health insurance information from MassHealth, the Health Connector, and Health Safety Net (HSN) programs.
7. Be knowledgeable about the Fuel Assistance programs and application process.
8. Participate in and complete annual Fuel Assistance trainings provided by Community Action and Valley Opportunity Council.
9. Be knowledgeable about the Department of Transition Assistance (DTA) programs and services, including the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Out-of-Pocket Medical Expenses Form.

Associates Degree. Experience with Elders, Ability to work independently. Strong communication skills and attention to detail with the ability to evaluate and verify information against a set of standards. Strong computer skills.
